Travel to a wonderland of icy waterfalls, crystalline tunnels, and black-sand beaches dusted with diamantine icebergs. This is Iceland in the winter, a fantasy landscape that never gets too cold thanks to its Gulf Stream position. Short sunlight hours are made beautiful as the low-hanging sun bathes the country in golden light during the winter days, and darkness brings glimpses of the NORTHERN LIGHTS dancing across the night sky during the long nights. Witness Iceland’s iconic natural scenes with a dusting of pure snow, float in warm thermal pools beneath the stars, and explore a glacier from within its pure blue ice tunnels. But get to know the heart of Iceland when you meet the resilient people who call this home, even during the long winter months: the greenhouse farmers and fishermen who sustainably maintain the food supply, the farmers who raise majestic Icelandic horses, and a local family who invites you in for a meal. Our small group will afford us the opportunity to delve deeper into the culture through conversations with these local residents. Iceland is special year-round—but magical in the winter.

This trip is hosted by Mary Veal and will include yoga daily. Please register and pay your deposit of $350 to hold your spot.  Balance due 90 days prior to travel. This tour is limited to 16 people. Whale sharks, the world’s gentle giants, are the largest fish on the planet. Their majesty and mystery have always intrigued humans. They gracefully glide through the water living peacefully in the oceans, and many who have swam with one in the wild have described the moment as a religious experience.

Sami Kattan of Nomad Creative created his first environmental documentary, The Global Connection: Little Island, Big Fish in 2016. Since then, he has been working to increase awareness to keep these beautiful animals protected, in addition to educating the public about the effects tourism has on local communities.

Our Whale Shark Pilgrimage will take us to Isla Holbox, Mexico, an island at the northern tip of the Yucatan peninsula. We will explore the community, interact with locals, and experience the exceptional beauty this part of the world has to offer – described as a fully intact ecosystem. This will be a real, authentic local experience and eco conscious experience. We’ll stay in locally owned hotels, use local tour operators and eat in family owned restaurants. Local venues will be our path over corporate outlets on this trip!

Mary Veal will lead daily yoga classes, karma yoga activities and as always, bring the fun! Sami Kattan will bring his knowledge of Holbox, expert photo and video skills and inspiring passion for the environment to our adventure. The group is limited to 8 travelers in addition to Sami and Mary. All rooms are double occupancy. A roommate will be assigned to you if you are traveling solo. Deposit of $500 is due by November 22nd, 2019 to reserve your space and balance is due in full by April 15th. In a small group, you’ll weave your way into daily life to get an authentic glimpse of a culture that has gone untouched by western influence. A local Trip Experience Leader will help you gain an insider’s perspective into Thai culture as they connect you with locals, prepare a traditional meal alongside villagers, dine in a local home, and ride on a traditional wooden rice barge. Plus, we now include a stay in Nakhon Sawan and we’ve added an extra night in Sukhothai to give you more time to explore Siam’s ancient capital. Ancient Egypt & the Nile River Cruise Yoga Retreat
**Pre-Register by November 1st, 2019**

A Mary Veal Yoga Retreat
Cairo, Sakkara, Memphis, Luxor, Qena, Edfu, Kom Ombo, Aswan, Abu Simbel.
May 2021 (exact dates to be determined)

Hello Friends!

I’m very excited to share with you that I have been researching a trip to Egypt in May 2021. I have been working with Overseas Adventure Travel on the best options for us. The Egypt tours work a bit different than our previous trips. Mainly because these trips are extremely popular and sell out over a year in advance. Egypt is on everyone’s bucket list! The dates for 2021 will be announced in November of 2020. The trip is 16 days and includes a 7 night Nile Cruise! The cruise ship is owned by OAT and holds 75 passengers. The tour will not be exclusive to our group. There will be a trip leader assigned to groups of 25. It is possible to have our own trip leader if we have a large enough group.

OAT cannot hold spaces for us once the dates are released to the public. However, they have held a minimum number of rooms for us as a “pre-registration” arrangement. What this means is, we pay a 100% refundable deposit of $500 prior to November 1st to secure our spots. Once the dates and prices are released, if for any reason you do not want to travel, your deposit will be refunded. The final price has not been determined yet, but it is estimated to range from $4895 – $5295, including airfare from MIA.

Below are the instructions to call in with the deposit. OAT’s Egypt tours are in huge demand. I recommend if you are at all interested in this trip, to place your deposit no later than November 1st. As usual, the balance will be due at 90 days out.

Group members that want to get a head start can make a 100% risk free deposit and lock in the following Group Travel exclusive pre-registration benefits:

Standard Pre-Registration Benefits:
1. Advanced Notification: Our group will get notification of the 2021 dates and prices before this information goes public!
2. 100% Refundable Pre-Registration deposit
3. Good Buy Discount (GBD): The Good Buy Discount will be calculated using the date of your Pre-Registration deposit. The earlier that you make your advanced reservation, the more that you are able to save.

How to pre-register for this trip:
1. Call Overseas Adventure Travel Reservations: 800-955-1925
2. Advise the travel counselor that you want to Pre-Register for Ancient Egypt & the Nile River in 2021 with the Mary Veal Yoga Retreat group.
3. Mention Group Code: G1-26667
4. Deposit is $500 per person. This deposit is 100% refundable until dates and prices are finalized.

Explore in a group of 20-25 aboard our privately chartered 75 passenger ship.

When you journey to Egypt and ply the legendary waters of the Nile on this Small Ship Adventure, you’ll experience a land of superlatives. In Giza, stand in the 4,500-year-old shadow of the only Wonder of the Ancient World that still remains. A stone’s throw away, in the necropolis of Sakkara, witness the oldest pyramid on Earth stair-stepping up from the sand as a testament to the ingenuity of the 27th century BC. In Luxor, “the world’s largest open-air museum,” amble among the 200 acres of Karnak Temple, the largest temple complex outside of Asia. There, and on the opposite bank of the Nile, marvel at the grand monuments immortalizing Queen Hatshepsut—Egypt’s longest-serving female ruler.

But there’s more to Egypt than its timeless temples and millennia of history. With more than 95 million inhabitants clustered along its life-giving waterway, Egypt is a hive of energy and culture, and you’ll experience it more intimately in your small group of 20-25 travelers. During your seven nights in Cairo, you’ll hear the call of the muezzin ring out at prayer time; spot men smoking shisha in cafes and teenagers tending to the family’s pigeon coop; and stroll through buzzing bazaars alongside women and children, inhaling the heady aromas of cumin, cardamom, and saffron.

When you venture beyond the urban centers, you’ll share a meal and personal stories with subsistence farmers and have the opportunity to shop for locally made wares at night markets along the Nile. Through it all, you’ll be joined by a Trip Experience Leader, who will not only share insights into local life—including how Egypt is finding its footing in a post-Arab Spring world—but, as a trained Egyptologist, will also bring the country’s past tribulations and triumphs into clear focus.

At the heart of this Small Ship Adventure is a seven-night cruise along the mighty Nile. Aboard the recently refurbished, 75 passenger Nefertiti, you’ll witness Egypt’s wonders just as Agatha Christie and Antony and Cleopatra did. From your private balcony, gaze out upon scenes of everyday life, from cows grazing on tall grasses, to felucca boats gliding alongside you. And in the welcoming common areas, mingle with your fellow American travelers and delight in the personalized attention of our friendly crew, for an experience that is as comfortable as it is inspiring.
